Washington Physician Hospital Organization (WPHO), a partnership of Washington Health System and over 250 local physicians in 39 specialties, is pleased to announce the appointment of John Six, M.D. and Matthew StantsPainter, D.O. as medical directors. They succeed Jay Ziegler, M.D., who served as WPHO medical director for almost 19 years. Dr. Six is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his family medicine residency at The Washington Hospital and has been in private practice for the past seven years at Claysville Family Practice. Dr. Six is also the medical director at Greenbriar Treatment Center, and he has held several leadership positions with the Washington County Medical Society. Dr. StantsPainter graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital. He then served for two years on West Penn’s residency faculty. He joined Washington’s family medicine residency in 2008, where he initially served as the osteopathic program director and since 2010 has been associate program director. The decision to appoint co-directors was based on increased duties that have arisen out of the strategic planning process and greater complexity in work with incentive programs. The WPHO is also exploring a potential health information technology solution to assist its clinical integration efforts, particularly in the area of population health management.
